Re-charge your skin with the Aveda Tourmaline skin refiner and masque

Here again with another beauty review! A quick note before I get into it, I haven’t been using them for about a week or so and my skin misses them! Going to start using them again soon, my skin has certainly felt clearer and smoother. As mentioned in the review – they don’t leave my skin feeling soft, but it does feel smooth. Here we go!

Now, I’m a sucker for trying a set of skincare products from the same line. I love when you can get a set of products that work in perfect harmony together and I was excited to try this set to see what it could do for my skin. I have quite dry skin, with some texture and redness so I like products that my skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. Recently I have been testing out the Aveda tourmaline charged radiant skin refiner and masque and I have been really enjoying it to help look after my dry skin…

My cleansing balm ‘Lust List’

Once again, I am here with another review that I’ve published elsewhere, As I work for this brand, I feel bad writing anything just for my own personal blog without also publishing it on Wow… so for the moment, the majority of my beauty related posts will be previewed here, but the full post will be over there. Still want to keep this blog somewhat updated though. So here we go!

I think we’re all looking for the best thing to cleanse our skin. As someone who usually applies a full face of make up every day, I am always looking for products that will get rid of every trace of make-up, leaving my skin feeling clean and soft. I have quite dry skin so I’m always looking for something that won’t dry me out, but I am also prone to redness so I don’t want to cause any irritation. Here are some  cleansing balms that I have been loving recently.

I have looked at two types of cleansing balms here. The first two are massaged into the skin and then turn into a more milky substance when water is added, gently dissolving away the dirt. The other three are hot cloth cleansers and are followed up with a hot (although not too hot of course) cloth to exfoliate the skin, lifting away dead skin cells and leaving the skin soft and clear. I like to do the ‘double cleanse’ method – using one cleanser to remove the make-up and then going in with a second to really clean and treat the skin.

Said goodbye to this gorgeous ‘heart and soul’ cleanser from 3107 the other day.

What a beautiful balm!

It’s quite thick but just melts into the skin without feeling heavy or leaving any oily residue. It gives me a really deep clean but it is also intensely nourishing, with only the best ingredients. Includes uplifting lemongrass and geranium, along with jojoba oil and shea butter to moisturise and other great ingredients.

Love to leave this on as a mask as well. It has a texture quite similar to the Pixi one. It leaves my face nice and cleaned but also moisturised… it feels like a waste to use this as a first cleanse to simply remove my makeup. It’s so much more than just your average makeup cleanser. This might even be beating my love for the luxurious Elemis cleanser.

There’s a fab story behind the brand too, founded by the fabulous Dijja.

You can buy her balm on her website here. At the moment, she only has two products – this balm and her ‘My Everything’ face oil.

What are your favourite cleansing balms? I love trying new ones!

Trying the ‘Gold Dust’ face mask from Oh K!

Tried this face mask out recently! I’ve always loved sheet masks.

This one felt so gooey when I opened it I nearly dropped it! It felt very hydrating but kind of tingly and tightening. It has gold dust elements in it and gold has fantastic anti-ageing properties, which is where I imagine the ‘tightening’ came from. By the time the 30 minutes were up, the mask had dried considerably and I’d like to think that most of it had absorbed into my skin.

It left my skin feeling a little tacky but I rubbed in all of the excess serum from the mask to make sure I get all of the benefits! My skin was left glowing!

Okay. I’m back

I have been thinking about starting this up again for a while. Please don’t hold it against me – I thought about deleting everything and restarting but I don’t want to just delete everything.

To be honest, quite a lot has changed since I last wrote on this blog. I feel quite different in myself. And I’m also actually in the beauty industry now, which has inspired me to get back to this.

I’m currently working for a wellbeing/beauty website where I’ve been posting reviews. So some of this will be links to that. But I’m going to keep some for myself. Some for this blog.

I started posting on Instagram, hoping the smaller platform would make it easier. But it doesn’t always quite fit. So I’m going to post on here as well.

Let’s see how it goes.

Trying to rock a greige lip

I coveted the greige liquid lipstick ‘Ghoulish’ from La Splash for MONTHS and I eventually got it as a present.

However, it made me look slightly dead. Over time, I’ve tried different eye looks to try and lift the look and make me look slightly more alive. I came up with this look – what do you think? Does it work? I’m not too sure.

I’m usually one to wear a much warmer lip, so this was something very different for me. I also used my sleek blush which is a dupe for the famous Nars Orgasm, but I don’t think you can see it very well here.

The main colour used on my eye is the shade ‘mermaid’ by NYX. A beautiful shadow, although I found it took a bit more work to get the full pigmentation out of it.

Just thought I’d share it with you – please share your tips on how to wear a greige lip! I’d love to make it work for me and I will keep trying different looks.

It’s been a while…

I don’t want this blog to be a serious thing. At least yet. So excuse the somewhat randomness of these blog posts.

But I was sat on my laptop today so I thought I’d write a quick post up here with a few updates.

I haven’t bought any products recently to be able to discuss – except the NYX HD loose powder, which I might write a post about. I wanted to try baking so I’m still playing around with it.

I do have one update though – as mentioned before, I bought The Body Shop Aloe day and night cream. Now, I have quite dry skin so I’m always looking for something that’s going to give me good hydration and make my skin feel lovely and soft.

I have noticed that since using this, my skin is a lot more dewy. I have been using the No 7 Radiance foundation but I’m practically glowing through it. Perhaps slightly too much, but for someone with dry skin, this is quite a difference. So if you have really dry skin, I’d really recommend this product to help hydrate your skin. It’s really made a difference. Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyway, this is just a quick post. Once I start buying some new products (I’m currently saving at the moment so being careful with money) I’ll do some write-ups. But until then this blog might be a little quiet!
